Radiation from a dipole antenna array energized by a surface wave
Abstract
The development of microwave techniques requires the construction of small high-efficiency antenna with a controlled radiation pattern. These requirements are best satisfied by antenna arrays. An expression is derived for the radiation pattern of a dipole antenna array arranged on a helix normal to the surface of a cylindrical dielectric slow-wave structure and energized by a symmetrical surface wave. The analytical results are verified experimentally.
