A fast, lightweight, rocket-borne monochromator for ultraviolet and visible spectra
Abstract
The Ebert-Fastie type R237 monochromator is designed for use on sounding rockets. It can record spectral emissions in the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions and can operate in atmospheric, intermediate, and vacuum pressure ranges. Its optical design, mechanical layout, electronics, and calibration procedure are described. The overall performance parameters are given. The monochromator employs modular design; scanning range, extreme wavelengths, and recording speed are adjustable, and detector heads are interchangeable.
