Study of mass transport at wiped plates
Abstract
An investigation is conducted of the mass transport relations in an electrolysis for a stirring method which has not been studied before. It is the objective of this method to provide high mass transport rates under conditions of low energy consumption rates for the stirring process. The stirring method attempts, therefore, to avoid as much as possible the generation of unnecessary electrolyte motion. Two approaches for obtaining forced convection conditions are considered. One approach involves an oscillating wiping process of the electrodes. The other approach makes use of an endless band of a fabric.
