Rapid fine alignment of inertial-navigation platforms with the aid of a Kalman filter - First test results
Abstract
The physical characteristics of the self-alignment process of inertial-navigation platforms are examined and an experimental investigation related to the rapid accurate alignment of the LN3 platform is discussed. The equilibrium position of an inertial-navigation platform after alignment is considered along with the design of the analog gyrocompass control circuit and the design of the Kalman filter. Attention is given to test results showing the operational characteristics of the Kalman filter.
