Theory of an open Fabry-Perot cavity partially filled with an active dielectric
Abstract
The problem of finding the electromagnetic field in a Fabry-Perot cavity filled with a lasing substance has been investigated. A method for solving the laser boundary problem in the case of an active dielectric rod with mirrors at the ends is presented. For the special case of an empty cavity at the high-frequency limit, the spectrum of a closed cavity is obtained. A solution is found for the Maxwell equations for the electromagnetic field.
