Continuous-wave radar devices
Abstract
The principles of operation of continuous-wave (CW) radar are discussed, showing the numerous advantages of this type of radar over pulsed radar. Particular attention is paid to a description of block diagrams of such radar and to the special features of the design of certain systems, units, and assemblies of CW radar, including receiving devices with tracking filters and tracking heterodynes, systems for converting distance and velocity data (frequency meters and correlometers), and automatic range tracking systems. It is shown how CW radar can be used to solve problems involving the reliable detection of manned and unmanned vehicles over great distances and the accurate determination of the coordinates and velocity of these vehicles. Certain optical-range radar systems of non-Soviet design are also discussed.
