A systematic, basic course in radio-transmitting devices. The major portion of the book is devoted to radio-frequency oscillators and the types of output signals they can produce. The topics covered include transmitting tubes and their classification; oscillators with external excitation; the output and intermediate stages of radio transmitters; oscillators with self-excitation; microwave oscillators; frequency stabilization in radio transmitters; and the stability of the working regimes in radio-transmitter stages. Various types of modulation are considered, including AM, single-sideband AM, FM, phase modulation, and pulse modulation. Some typical medium-wave, short-wave and microwave radio transmitters are described.
