Application of acoustic emission to the study of fracture of steels
Abstract
Some aspects of the strain-wave emission method and its application to fracture studies are examined. It is shown that the current state of the art of this new technique is still insufficient to avoid ambiguities in the interpretation of test data. An attempt is made to relate the various fracture mechanisms of low-strength steels to the parameters of the strain-wave emission technique.
