Theory of the dynamics of a single-mode laser
Abstract
The behavior of a single-mode laser in the case of unstable steady-state lasing regime is investigated. Under conditions of instability in the steady state, the laser begins to operate in pi-pulse-emitting regime, with the pi-pulses changing into 2-pi-pulses with increased pumping power. The amplitude and the duration of the emission pulses are found. The effect of spontaneous emission on the formation of a statistical critical cycle is considered.
