Graphical analysis of mode transition and dual oscillation of traveling-wave-tube oscillator
Abstract
Multiple oscillation and mode transition are observed in a traveling-wave-tube oscillator with feedback loop containing resonant cavities. It is shown in this paper that conditions for these phenomena may be found with the aid of the generalized graphical technique which we previously proposed. The load line includes several cavities and the device line characterizing the TWT covers several signals in simultaneous oscillation. We eventually predict, with accuracy, generation of the multiple oscillation and mode transition. Validity of our technique is confirmed by experiment with a TWT oscillator with an external feedback loop that includes two cavities.
