A 1-m astrometrical reflector of Ritchey-Chrétien type.
Abstract
The possibility of application of the Ritchey-Chretien mirror systems for photographical astrometry is investigated. These systems are characterized by a high correctness of aberrations, large focal distance and advantageous position of the focus. The calculation was made for a reflector with diameter of 1 m and relative aperture of 1:10. A series of correctors were considered with accounting for the following requirements: size of the field, character of aberration corrections and quality of images. Two systems are suggested as a working version. The first is a Ritchey-Chretien system with the double-lens quartz corrector, which gives an unastigmatic image on the plane field, distortion being present. Within the limits of the plus or minus 30-minutes-of-arc field for the spectral interval of 4000-6500 A, the system is limited by diffraction only. The second system is a Ritchey-Chretien system with a three-lens corrector which is an unastigmatic with plane field free from distortion; the field of view is about plus or minus 35 minutes of arc. Within the limits of the plus or minus 26-minutes-of-arc field, an image is also restricted by diffraction. The allowances for a displacement of the secondary mirror and the difficulty of control of aspherical mirrors are estimated.
