Ferroelectric materials for components of the future
Abstract
The characteristics of ferroelectric materials are examined, giving attention also to an occurrence of ferroelectric properties in ceramic materials such as lead zirconate titanate. Preparative techniques for ceramic materials of the lead-zirconate-titanate type are described, taking into account the manufacture of the powder and approaches for pressing and sintering. Dielectric, piezoelectric, and electrooptical properties of ferroelectric ceramics are examined and questions concerning the use of these materials in various applications are discussed.
