Investigation of the electric properties of lunar soil (Luna 20) depending on frequency and density.
Abstract
The permittivity, loss tangent, and resistivity of lunar soil samples conveyed to the earth by Luna-20 were measured as functions of the bulk density in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 10 MHz in an atmosphere of a chemically pure helium and in vacuum at 20 C. The experiments show that within the range of measurement error (8 to 12%) the measurements of soil permittivity in a vacuum and in a helium atmosphere are identical.
