Spectral indication of the dispersion of whistler
Abstract
The authors studied recently a simplified method of observing whistlers with an audio discriminator. The peak values of output voltage, which are obtained with the discriminator and a group of filters, are stored in the peak hold circuits. The dispersion of whistler can be calculated easily by finding the filter of the highest peak value in the circuits. It was found that output voltage of each filter should be selected in the range of frequency within the second harmonics, and the periodic time of the discriminator wave should be less than 0.3 sec.
