Calculation of flow-through air flow probe characteristics
Abstract
The equations of gasdynamics are used to establish a relation connecting the core flow velocity and the section-average velocity at any section of a flow-through air probe (FTAP) with the velocity of the undisturbed flow in which the probe is located. The theoretical relations are confirmed by experiment. In measuring the flow velocity inside the FTAP by the scan conversion method (flow 'marker' method), a relation was obtained between the average velocity over the baseline and the undisturbed flow velocity. The measurement method errors are determined.
