Research on optical communications at 'Fondazione U. Bordoni' and 'Istituto Superiore P.T.'

A brief review of the research performed at Fondazione U. Bordoni and Istituto Superiore P.T. on optical communications is given. The attention is mainly centered on the propagation characteristics of laser beams in the free atmosphere, on the study of an optical laser link in the free atmosphere and on the use of optical fibers as a medium for transmission.
