Comparison of processes in comet Mrkos 1957 V with the solar activity.
Abstract
An attempt is made to study the processes occurring in the comet 1957 V (detected on August 2, 1957) as a function of solar activity. The light curve of the comet and the changes in cometary structure are compared with the solar and geophysical activity and the solar wind velocity during the period of observation (August-September, 1957). The difficulties arising in the comparison due to the fact that the observation period coincided with the maximum of the 11-year cycle of solar activity and due to the unfavorable position of the comet with respect to the sun are noted.
