Theoretical aspects of light variations of magnetic stars.
Abstract
Summary. It is shown by the example of oc2CVn that it is possible to calculate the amplitude of light variations of magnetic stars over a large spectral range (1500 A-6000 A), if one assumes different integral effective values of gravity and temperature for both magnetic poles and the magnetic equator. The influence of the magnetic field on effective gravity is shown to be large. A van Allen belt-type extension of the stellar photosphere along the magnetic equator is suggested to be the cause of the observed light variations. Keywords: magnetic stars -.
