Instrument to measure radiant heat fluxes
Abstract
An absolute bilateral radiometer for measuring radiant heat fluxes is described. The instrument is a thermoelectric converter in which one of the elements is exposed to the stream to be measured and the compensation side is darkened and heated by an electric current. The equality of the energies delivered to the plates is checked by a sensor, a differential thermocouple, whose junctions are located on the exposed and shaded plates. A thermoelectric transducer performs the function of sensor and auxiliary wall through which a significant part of the thermal energy absorbed or being generated passes. A diagram of the principle and the construction are presented.
