Test and optimization of a control and alignment system for an X-ray astronomy balloon experiment
Abstract
The attitude control system is described, taking into account the control principle, the mechanical design of the control system, and the electronics subsystem. Basic concepts of control systems theory are briefly discussed together with the implementation of these concepts in the considered control circuit. Questions concerning the selection of a suitable controller for optimal control are examined and aspects of system stability are considered. Attention is also given to the mechanism used in guiding the X-ray detector, aspects of attitude determination, and operational questions regarding the intended use of the instrument in the observation of the Crab Nebula.
