Investigation of vibration and quality of stellar images at two satellite observation stations in Mongolia
Abstract
Climatic characteristics are described for two satellite observation stations in Mongolia (Khurel-Togot and Dalanzagad), and the quality of stellar images obtained at these stations is evaluated. The climate and geographical locations of the two sites are discussed, and they are both found to be good sites for astronomical observations. The dependence of the amount of vibration on zenith distance is analyzed, the quality of diffraction patterns obtained at the two stations is evaluated, and the overall quality of observations there is compared with that of observations at the Sanglok station in Tadjikstan. It is found that better observations can be made at Dalanzagad than at Khurel-Togot.
