An accuracy analysis of time recording during satellite observations for geodetical purposes
Abstract
Present recording methods have different accuracies (delta t sub 0 = 0.5 - 2 msec). This accuracy depends on the parameters of the camera, on the mode of observation and on the accuracy of the method used to evaluate the measurement. Assuming a given accuracy of time synchronization with UT, a comparison is made of the accuracies of the registering, printing, photographic and magnetic tape chronographs and also of the chronoscope. The accuracy of magnetic tape recording is found to be 1.0 - 0.1 msec. It is recommended that this kind of time recording be used.
