HD 173219. A periodic Be star.
Abstract
Spectroscopic observations at high dispersion are reported which reveal a period of days in the large velocity variations of this star. Velocity amplitudes derived from different lines vary widely, but the other orbital elements agree well. The spectrum has numerous peculiarities, some of which appear to change with phase. The main features suggest a spectral type of B2 Ib. Possible shell configurations are discussed and it is speculated that the invisible high mass companion may be a black hole.
