Deuterium in the Orion Nebula
Abstract
We have found line emission which we attribute to the J = 2 to J = 1 transition of DCN in the Orion Nebula. This identification has been strengthened by our detection of the corresponding J = 1 to J = 0 multiplet. The measured frequencies, line shapes, and the line intensity ratio all agree with the predictions based upon our identification. The computed colurnn density is 4.3 X 1012 molecules per cm.2 Subject headings: abundances - molecules, interstellar - Orion Nebula
