Evidence for E2 resonances at high excitation energies in 208Pb
Abstract
Low-energy inelastic electron scattering experiments have been performed for 208Pb with excitation energy ranging from 5 to 22 MeV. Resonances are observed at 7.3, 7.9, 8.9, 10.2, 10.6, 11.2 and 14.1 MeV. For the triple at 10.2, 10.6 and 11.2 MeV, evidence is presented for an E2 assignment, with a reduced transition probability B(E2,0) = (2.6 +/- 0.9) × 103 fm4.
