2-(2-Ethoxyphenoxymethyl)tetra-hydro-1,4-oxazine Hydrochloride, a Potential Psychotropic Agent
Abstract
WE have been investigating the pharmacological properties of a series of aryloxymethyltetrahydro-1,4-oxazines of the general formula (I): where Ar is an aromatic group (optionally substituted), and R is hydrogen or an alkyl group. The series arose from attempts to exploit the observed activity of the aryloxypropanol-amine series of β-adrenergic blocking agents on the central nervous system of laboratory animals1,2. To obtain more lipophilic compounds, a two-carbon bridge was inserted between the amine nitrogen and hydroxyl group, leading to compounds of the formula (I).
