Photometry of Supernova 1972 IN NGC 5253
Abstract
Results are reported for UBVRIJK photometry of the bright supernova 1972 in galaxy NGC 5253. The observations obtained over a span of 43 days show the UBV measurements to be of sinillar character as those made on previous supernovae classed as Type I. Infrared observations made at 1.25 and 2.2 microns during two nights separated by 38 days show nearly identical magnitudes. The measurements show the decline in all bands to have definite irregularities.
