On the Secondary Production of Galactic Cosmic Ray Electrons
Abstract
The differential energy spectrum and charge ratio of primary cosmic ray electrons produced by collisions of primary cosmic ray particles with the interstellar medium is calculated by means of the two temperature statistical model of high-energy interactions. Two realistic models for the primary cosmic ray flux are considered. Contributions to the primary cosmic ray electron intensity from both the pion and kaon decay modes have been included. The distribution of matter in the galaxy and energy loss of produced secondaries and electrons are considered. The results are compared to recent experimental data.
