A survey of high-velocity and intermediate-velocity H I clouds with 12.5' angular resolution.
Abstract
A survey of the sky from RA = 51145rn to 11h45rn from Dec = 500 to 850 was made with the 300 ft. radio telescope at the NRAO at Green Bank, West Virginia. Some 3000 low-noise 21-cm line proffles were obtained. No new small high-velocity clouds were discovered; but parts of HVC A and HVC CII lie within the survey limits. Several intermediate-velocity clouds were examined. The differences among the various clouds are discussed. These clouds appear to be hot H I clouds of various spin temperatures at large distances from the galactic plane. Some theoretical problems related to their existence at large z distances are investigated. Key words: High-velocity clouds - intermediate-velocity clouds - neutral hydrogen
