Short period variable stars. V. Delta Scuti-type stars in the Geneva system.
Abstract
Thirty 6 Scuti-type stars have been measured in the photometric system of the Geneva Observatory. From these measurements, it is possible to obtain the temperature and the absolute magnitude of this category of stars. A critical study of the meaning of the parameter A m8 (or A m in the vby fi system) shows that the results obtained for the 6 Scuti-type stars are characteristic of the giant stars, rather than of the Am stars. This is in agreement with the study of Breger (1970) who showed that either Am characteristics tend to inhibit pulsation, or else pulsation destroys the observable Am characteristics.
