Unsteady flow in turbomachines
Abstract
The mechanism of change in stagnation pressure in a turbomachine is first examined. Thin aerofoil analyses, which are available for determining the fluctuating lift and circulation on aerofoils in unsteady flow, are reviewed. In particular the lift variations arising on aerofoils moving at uniform steady speed, through flows with perturbations parallel and perpendicular to the direction of uniform motion, are discussed.
