On the Equation of Radiative Transfer in a Magnetoactive Plasma
Abstract
The equation of radiative transfer in a non-uniform magnetoactive medium is derived from the equa- tion of continuity for the density of radiative energy in the space of coordinates and wave vectors. In particular, it follows from the equation obtained, which is valid when the ray configuration is given by the geometrical optics approximation, that I cos ~ /~2 is invariant when the radiation is propagating in a non-uniform, non-absorbing, and non-radiative medium. Here I is the specific intensity of the radiation, ii is the index of refraction of the medium, and t~ is the angle between the phase and group velocities, which, in a magnetoactive plasma, is in general not equal to zero.
