Hot, Vibrating Neutron Stars
Abstract
Taking into account the dissipative effect of neutrino-producing reactions, we calculate the amount of thermal and vibrational energy that can be present in a neutron star at a time I after its creation in a supernova explosion. The results are used to discuss the plausibility of a number of hypotheses advanced in recent years concerning possible observable properties of neutron stars
