A wedge-shaped scintillation detector for a magnetic spectrometer
Abstract
The performance of a wedge-shaped scintillation detector, for use in the focal plane of a double focussing magnetic spectrometer, has been investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Computations for 50 and 30 MeV protons for a variety of geometrical arrangements and the optimum orientation of the detector, are discussed. In experimental tests, overall resolutions of about 100 keV were obtained, corresponding to a detector with about 30 channels of resolved position indication.
