Phosphorescence 2E g → 4A 2g of molybdenum (III) complexes
Abstract
Irradiation in the parity forbidden spin allowed d → d bands, in the charge transfer, or inner ligand bands leads in three of fifteen molybdenum (III) complexes ([Mo urea 3Cl 3], [Mo urea 3Br 3], [Mo thiourea 3Cl 3]) to a weak narrow phosphorescence in the near infrared (∼1100 - 1000 mμ), which can be classified, assuming octahedral microsymmetry, as a spin forbidden transition 2E g → 4A 2g.
