Liquid-vapor frequency shifts and torsional frequencies in far infrared spectra
Abstract
Shifts of low frequencies (wave numbers less than 250 cm -1) between liquid (or solution) and vapor states were observed in the far infrared spectra of a variety of compounds. Frequencies for hindered internal rotation of 2,3-dithiabutane and 2-propanethiol and hindered pseudo-rotation of thiacyclopentane were found to agree well with conclusions based on calorimetric data for the compounds.
