The spectra of helium stars I.
Abstract
Wavelengths and equivalent widths are given for absorption lines in the spectra of the helium stars HD 168476 and HD 124448. The absence of lines of hydrogen and oxygen noted at lower dispersion is confirmed on coude' spectrograms of dispersion r 6 A!mm. Apart from these the ions present are those to be expected in normal B-type stars. [He i] has been detected in both stars. Lines of ions of the iron group of elements are numerous and strong in the spectrum of HD 168476, probably because of the reduced opacity due to hydrogen deficiency. The approximate spectral types are B5 for HD 168476 and 133 for HD 124448.
