A Description of Certain Galactic Nebulosities.
Abstract
A description is given of certain nebulous features in the northern Milky Way. The observations were made in the spectral region of the Ha line; the plates were obtained with a Meinel-Pearson 8-inch Schmidt camera. The following features are described: (1) The region of a Sco: The Bi star Sco, which is enveloped in an H II region approximately 70' x 40' in size; the B 0 star r Sco, located in an H ii region having a diameter of about 3. (2) The series of H n regions extending from galactic longitudes 322 to 333 , which are projected against the galactic center. (3) The great emission nebulosity, having dimensions of about 7 X 10 , surrounding Oph. (4) A large nebulous loop about 5 in length, east of Cyg. (5) A region centered on a Cyg showing the North America Nebula and the great field of filamentary nebulosity west of a Cyg. (6) A large emission nebula, about 5 in length, near the O9 star 10 Lac. (7) A series of fields centered on various parts of the Orion complex. These show a mottled area of faint nebulosity near p Ori, an elliptical gaseous shell surrounding the star Ori, a long nebulous fIlament extending from the Orion loop to the immediate neighborhood of a Ori, and the large H II region surrounding X Ori. (8) Two extended emision regions associated with the Rosette Nebula ( 2237) and the S Mon cluster (NGC 2264).
