Discrete Sources of Galactic Radio Frequency Noise

IN a recent communication¹ an outline was given of investigations of the variable galactic noise received from the constellation of Cygnus, first noticed by Hey, Parsons and Phillips². The characteristics of the radiation were described, and evidence was given of its origin in a discrete source. A search has since been made over about one quarter of the celestial sphere for other such sources. The region investigated is roughly enclosed by the co-ordinates: The frequency used was 100 Mc./s., with an overall sensitivity of 10^-24 watts m.^-2 (c./s.)^-1, and the technique and equipment employed were as previously described^1,3.
