Characteristic of natural colonization barriers of periodontium in conditions of 2-day dry immersion
Abstract
In 21-day dry immersion conditions of periodontal tissues of operators was studied. No prophylactic agents were used during the experiment (DI). The study monitored the microbial community, local immunity in periodontal tissues and microcirculation in periodontal tissues and in the extremities of 10 operators aged 24 to 33 years: before the experiment, on 7, 14 days of the experiment, at the end of the experiment, and 7 days later after the end of the experiment. Sampling was carried out locally from 8 sampling sites of periodontium biotope using standard sterile swabs. The studies were carried out using standard bacteriological and immunological methods. The special composition of main periodontal pathogenic microorganisms was determined by polymerase chain reaction method. Assessment of blood flow in periodontal tissues was carried out by method of ultrasonic Doppler fluometry. For statistical processing of the research results, the scientific-statistical package "Statistica v7.0" was used. The studies revealed carriership of main periodontal pathogenic microflora by volunteers. The detection rate of periodontal pathogens of the 1st raw (Porphyromonas gingivalis, Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Tanerella forsythia) is 68%, and the 2nd raw (Treponema denticola, Prevotella intermedia) is 32%, which suggests the etiological significance of these microorganisms and potential to cause inflammation diseases of periodontium. The results of the studies showed that the increase in immunoglobulins on the 14th day of the experiment was statistically significant for IgA (p = 0.0173). An analysis of main blood flow dynamics characteristics in the microcirculatory vessels of periodontal tissues during DI showed a decrease in linear velocities characterizing the arteriolar unit (maximum systolic velocity, average maximum velocity, and average velocity). The average blood flow velocity in the capillary link of the periodontal ICR and in the lower extremities for 21 days DI remained relatively stable. Thus, the predisposition of periodontal tissues of those examined under DI conditions to the development of inflammatory diseases and the reduction of the periodontal barrier functions directly in the experiment is shown.
