Future Gamma-ray Astronomy with AMEGO
Abstract
The All-sky Medium-Energy Gamma-ray Observatory (AMEGO) is a proposed mission concept designed to open access to a broad range of astronomy in the medium-energy gamma-ray band. AMEGO will provide groundbreaking capabilities for multi-messenger astrophysics — studying astrophysical objects that produce gravitational waves and neutrinos — and more generally for the study of astrophysical jets, compact objects, dark matter and nuclear line spectroscopy. The planned telescope will span an energy range from 200 keV to beyond 20 GeV at a sensitivity more than an order of magnitude improved relative to previous missions. In this presentation I will emphasize the synergies for AMEGO and TeV observatories.
