Interactive Catalog of Solar Proton Events at SINP MSU
Abstract
Catalogs of Solar Proton Events is one of the sources that is used in helio- and geophysical researches and space weather forecast as well as for planning and ensuring radiation safety of spacecraft missions. Catalogs provide information on significant parameters characterizing the solar activity right before, during, and after an event. The first catalog for the 20th solar cycle (1970 - 1979) was released in 1983. The catalog for the latest 24th solar cycle (2008 - 2018) is being developed at SINP MSU. The main idea of the forthcoming catalog is that it is presented as an interactive web application where scientists can search for a specific event in the past and also participate in identifying the new event using the tools provided by the app. Once a new event is created, it has to be passed through a review process by experts in the field. After confirmation, the new event will be added to the official catalog. This work gives you the first insights into the new interactive catalog.
