Pulse length and amplitude filtration of gamma radiation detection, utilization in the 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy
Abstract
In this paper we present a pulse signal processing which combines the pulse amplitude and length discrimination. The introduced technique improves the signal-to-noise ratio, especially in case of low energy gamma radiation. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated on the discrimination of 6.3 keV X-ray and 14.4 keV gamma radiation of 57Co and its utilization in Mössbauer spectroscopy. The presented signal analysis process can be easily implemented to other applications that are based on pulse detection, particularly to those, where the signals are very close to the noise level.
