Influences of Nb-microalloying on the hot deformation behavior of Fe-25Mn-3Si-3Al TWIP steel
Abstract
Previous studies have claimed that the hot deformation activation energy QHW of the TWIP steel with medium carbon can be significantly increased by trace Nb addition, and the dynamic recrystallization DRX process can be also depressed, which is considered to be the result of precipitation and solution strengthening of Nb. In this paper, the effects of trace Nb on the hot deformation behavior of ultra-low carbon TWIP steel were investigated. The results show that the QHW of the TWIP steel is slightly increased from 398 to 402 kJ mol-1, but its DRX process is clearly suppressed below 1050 °C, and the precipitation behavior of Nb plays a leading role to the hot deformation behavior of the tested steel.
