An overview of the S5P/TROPOMI Mission Performance Center Operational Activities and Plans
Abstract
The Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) onboard the Sentinel 5 Precursor (S5P) satellite has been in operational mode for more than one year. The S5P/TROPOMI Mission Performance Center (MPC), fulfills mission requirements for data processing, calibration, quality control, validation, communication, and end-to-end system performance monitoring. The MPC provides a multi-faceted service to the data user community for all publicly released S5P/TROPOMI Level 1 and Level 2 data products. The focus of the MPC is on routine quality control (QC) and validation of these datasets. Data users can access output of these routine QC and validation activities via MPC dedicated websites featuring reports, visualizations, and data files that can customized and downloaded. The MPC is driven by a consortium of experts working with both ESA and external validation partners. We present the structure of the MPC, its core components, and give an overview of the key output aimed at the data user community. Lastly, an outlook will be given to highlight the procedures related to the production and release of new data collections.
