Mechanism of gully and rill erosion of mudstone, south-western Taiwan
Abstract
This study is trying to l ink gully erosion at different spatial scales and try to find the relationships among each scales at the mudstone area of SE Taiwan.
Data collection via weather station, gauging stations, UAV, 3D SCAN used for calculation on the contribution of soil erosion at different spatial scales. The results show that mudstone erosion is prone to rainfall and the denudation rate at drainage area scale can be as high as 1mm denudation/10mm rainfall and the rainfall intensity around 50-60 mm/hr. In the meantime, the mudstone slope provides mud deposits from the upper part of slope and were removed by the rain. The results of slope erosion at catchment scale is highly depended on the size and percentage of bare land. This study demonstrates these relationships.- Publication:
