The Art of Planetary Science: Connecting Communities through STEAM Engagement
Abstract
The Art of Planetary Science is an annual art showcase organized and led by graduate students at The University of Arizona's Lunar & Planetary Laboratory. This is a public outreach engagement with the community where artists of all levels and media types are invited to showcase their space and planetary-themed art. The event is free and invites artists from all around the planet to submit their art. Currently in its 6thyear, The Art of Planetary Science continues to strive forward and invite new and under-represented artists to share their art. In addition, The Art of Planetary Science invites geoscientists and planetary scientists to create art from their own data and research to be displayed in the showcase. The Art of Planetary Science is both an effort to allow artists to show their work, engage with the local community about space and planetary science data, and to also create an outlet for scientists to creatively display their own research to the community.
