Synthesis and characterization of indium doped La3Co4Sn13 skutterudite superconductor
Abstract
We report the synthesis and characterization of a novel superconductor La3Co4Sn12.35In0.65 by Indium doping at Tin site in parent compound La3Co4Sn13. We observe enhanced Tc along with improved superconducting properties as onset compared to parent compound. By transport measurements we get superconducting transition with Tconset = 4.7 K and Tczero = 3.2 K. In magnetization measurements (ZFC-FC) superconducting transition is observed at 5.1 K. Upper critical field (Hc2) and lower critical field (Hc1) calculated by magneto resistance and M-H loop measurement are found to be 1.65 T and 0.0026 T respectively. Hall measurement shows the majority charge carrier as electrons with carrier density of the order of 1019 cm-3. TEP measurement also support the Hall data as the Seebeck coefficient is negative over whole temperature range of measurement.
