The spectral library of the AAPS
Abstract
The Anglo-Australian Planet Search program has been operating since 1997 and is still collecting high-resolution spectra of more than two hundred solar-like stars. Over forty thousand stellar spectra have been collected through an Iodine cell, and the radial velocity of the target of each spectrum determined. This project aims to reduce and calibrate the spectra and remove the interposed Iodine spectrum in order to recover the original stellar spectrum. The resultant library of spectra, in addition to being made available to the wider astronomical community, will be used to examine stellar activity, and to create high signal-to-noise composite spectra. We present initial results of the reduction process and indicate the quality of composite spectra that may be expected.
