Comet P/1999 r1 = P/2003 r5 = P/2007 r5 = P/2011 r4 (soho)
Abstract
K. Battams, Naval Research Laboratory, reports astrometric measurements of this comet (cf. IAUC 7251, 8871, 8872, 8877; MPEC 2007-S16) from 2011 Sept. 6-7 UT (initial observation tabulated below) that were found by T. Lovejoy, K. Cernis, and B. Zhou in SOHO/LASCO website images. As typical for non-Kreutz SOHO "comets", the object appeared small and stellar with no apparent tail or coma, peaking at mag around 6.5. 2011 UT R.A. (2000) Decl. Williams from 230 observations spanning 1999 Sept. 5-2011 Sept. 7, and an ephemeris for possible ground-based observations in the coming days appear on MPEC 2015-K01.
